New temperature-controlled centre strengthens pharmaceutical air cargo capabilities at Frankfurt Airport.
Frankfurt Cargo Services has expanded its pharmaceutical logistics operations with the launch of a new CEIV- and GDP-certified Pharma Center at Frankfurt Airport.
The new facility took nearly two years to complete and significantly increased the company’s temperature-controlled handling capabilities. The Pharma Center will quadruple Frankfurt Cargo Services’ dedicated pharma handling space to nearly 3,300 square metres, supporting the growing global demand for specialised healthcare logistics.
The facility centralises all pharmaceutical cargo operations under one roof, enabling the acceptance, storage, breakdown, and reassembly of temperature-sensitive shipments in a fully controlled environment. It also includes dedicated storage positions and power supply infrastructure for active temperature-controlled containers.
The centre supports both Controlled Room Temperature (CRT) cargo between 15°C and 25°C, as well as Controlled Cool Storage shipments between 2°C and 8°C, critical ranges for pharmaceuticals, biotech products, vaccines, and healthcare materials.
According to Frankfurt Cargo Services, pharmaceutical logistics continues to be one of the fastest-growing sectors within the air cargo industry. The expanded facility is designed not only to support current operational demand but also to position the company for future growth in temperature-controlled freight handling.
The development reflects the continued expansion of pharma-focused air cargo infrastructure globally, as airlines, handlers, airports, and logistics providers invest heavily in healthcare supply chain resilience and compliance capabilities.
