A long-planned mega port has got the green light from New Delhi. The giant Vadhavan port, located some 125 km north of Mumbai on India’s west coast, has been discussed for more than a decade, but finally, the Narendra Modi administration has approved the huge $9.1bn development.

The first of two construction phases is expected to be completed by 2029 with the port being developed via a joint venture between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, which will hold a 74% stake, and Maharashtra Maritime Board.

The port will comprise nine container terminals, each 1 km long, four multipurpose berths, four liquid cargo berths, a roro berth, and a coast guard berth.

The port will have a capacity of 298m tonnes per annum including 23.2m teu of container handling capacity.

My suppliers have less or zero experience with international logistics. Thus, not able to create proper documentation which leads to tremendous delay. Thanks to Logfret who provide training to all suppliers and work with us to build up a consolidation hub to reduce transportation costs significantly.
